Google has officially confirmed that its next major hardware event, set for August 12, will center on the launch of the Pixel 11 series, with pre-orders opening the same day. This marks the first time Google has used the "Pixel 11" name directly in its own marketing, even though the branding was widely expected.
A New Signature Color
The teaser on Google's official store page shows the device in a striking gold finish, suggesting this could be the line's hero color for the year — following in the footsteps of last year's "Moonstone" shade on the Pixel 10 Pro. Interestingly, this gold tone doesn't perfectly match any of the previously leaked color options, though it bears the closest resemblance to a shade known as "Dune," which reportedly combines a gold frame with a coral-pink rear panel.
Introducing "Pixel Glow"
The most notable revelation from the teaser is a new feature — unofficially dubbed Pixel Glow — built directly into the camera flash module. This resolves earlier speculation that the feature might instead wrap around the camera bar or be embedded in the Google logo on the back of the phone.
Based on earlier leaks, Pixel Glow is expected to use subtle lighting and color patterns on the back of the phone to alert users to important notifications while the device is face-down — for example, potentially assigning different glow colors to specific contacts, or lighting up during interactions with Gemini, similar to the light ring on Google's newer smart speakers.
While full details won't be confirmed until the August 12 event, this lighting feature looks set to be the standout upgrade for anyone considering switching from a Pixel 10, since the rest of the phone's design and specs are expected to remain largely similar.
