MIUI was announced back in July, but Xiaomi needed more than three months to launch a stable global ROM. Days before the planned November 2 arrival, some Xiaomi Mi 6 units already started receiving the firmware.
The MIUI V9.0.1.0.NCAMEI brings new system optimizations, new icons,
and animations for launching and closing apps. The latest version brings
split screen, search for apps in the Dual apps mode and better
blocklist rules.
Along with some new features, a lot of the existing ones got
improved. Some of them include protection from unintentional tapping for
Dial pad, the Cleaner now removes empty folders better, and the timers
for Silent/DND mode are also improved.
Design-wise, MIUI 9 offers simplified virus scan result page, redesigned home page that can also be set in the editing mode.
Back in August, we reported the full list
of Xiaomi phones that are going to get the new user interface. The
Xiaomi Mi 6 is one of two global phones that are part of the first-wave
devices to get the new MIUI 9, the other being the Redmi Note 4X.
