The saga of the Misfit Vapor smartwatch's launch is almost ready to
come to a close now - and prove that its name wasn't chosen by simply
shortening the word "vaporware". The Vapor was initially unveiled at CES in January with a proprietary OS, then re-introduced in March with Android Wear 2.0 on board and a "late summer" release time frame, which has since slipped to October.
Today Misfit has announced that it's going to make that revised
estimate, if only just. The Vapor will officially become available from
its maker's online store on October 31. You may be able to grab one
sooner if you subscribe to the company's email newsletter, however.
Either way, the Vapor will set you back $199.99. It comes with a
1.39-inch round AMOLED touchscreen, 4GB of storage, a touch-sensitive
bezel for easy browsing, and 50m water resistance. It's powered by the
Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. The Misfit Vapor will be offered in jet
black, rose gold, silver, and gold.
